Healing Massage

Below are a listing of modalities that combine to form the healing massage technique unique to my work. Apart from my formal study and training, I have had many an opportunity to be shown the power of healing touch. Friends and family have called this response from me at crucial times of need throughout my life. So, in many respects I view this capacity as innate, intuitive, and a gift. It is a gift that we all possess and can awaken as we open to love ourselves with greater honesty and depth.

Once, when I was a child spending some time in the summer at a farm in Western Massachusetts, I found myself sobbing on a hilltop with a cow, a horse, and a dog. I sat watching the sun set, crying about being left out of some adventure my brother and his friends had embarked on for the afternoon. As I dropped my head in my hands to sob, I felt a strong and gentle rub of my back soothing the feelings of aloneness and abandonment. I turned around to see the horse backing away, and was amazed and blessed all at once. He had used his long majestic forehead!

The power of healing touch is everywhere, and can come from anything. I am continually opening to this awareness, as I further my study and practice of healing touch through the physical means of massage and bodywork. Touch has become a phenomenon that transcends the physical. The teachings within the umbrella of, “energy healing,” have awakened me to the subtle realms of thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. These states of consciousness create a powerful experience of touching, and they shape our sense of reality deeply. I have come to observe that thoughts, emotions, and beliefs are inextricably linked to our physiological and anatomical self. So changing thoughts, moving emotions, and transforming beliefs is a manner of touching that can promote our health and life force flow. In essence it has inspired me to understand our interconnected nature, and the power of compassion as a life long journey for me. I can only hope to share this with others as I grow in love, and harness its power to nurture, heal, and restore vitality and meaning to life.

Swedish Massage
Muscular therapy with oil that uses long gliding strokes and strong kneading strokes. It improves circulation, speeds recovery time after workouts, speeds healing responses, and improves overall flexibility and range of motion.

Trigger Point, Neuromuscular, Deep Tissue Massage
Deep pressure muscular therapy that can be painful, yet extremely beneficial. The techniques release holding patterns that cause injury, encourage detoxification of the tissues, and improve structural alignment of the body for better coordination, movement, and flexibility.

Shiatsu
A Japanese touch healing modality that has been called, “acupuncture treatments without needles.” It follows the Asian Bioenergetic map of the body called Meridians. These are pathways that can be stimulated with gentle to deep pressure with the intention to balance, and effect the energy of the body to produce healing and wellness.

Thai Yoga Massage
A series of stretches and palming techniques that balances the energy system, calms, revitalizes the body/mond/spirit. A combination of yoga postures, and shiatsu like palming techniques.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy
A light touch that helps to free up the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid along the spine and cranium. When working well, this system of “spinal respiration” helps to nourish our nervous system, and maintain balance in all our other systems of the human being. It is an extremely calming technique that has been known to relieve symptoms of depression, insomnia, headaches, back pain, and neuromuscular disorders.

Energy Healing
I have studied many different methods of encouraging wellness in living systems. The belief that fuels this work is that our consciousness is our body. From this perspective, when we hold thoughts, feelings and beliefs of love, health, and wellness for ourselves and others we are providing the opportunity for love, health and wellness to exist. I have studied with people and traditions who encourage the development of healing consciousness like Barbara Brennan, Elizabeth Stratton, Steven Ullman, Yoga, Chi Gong, Rio Abierto (an Argentine healing center in Buenos Aires), various forms of meditation (Zen, Primordial Sound, Raja Yoga, Shambala Buddhist), and shamanic experiential creative expression. The services that I provide that come under the umbrella of “energy healing” range from a healing touch with massage, personalized tarot card readings, facilitation of authentic creative expression through all means of art, and spontaneous compassionate guidance through shared meditation, conversation, and therapeutic healing analysis.
